Radio Slave is the stage name of Matt Edwards, a British DJ, producer, remixer, and label owner, widely regarded as a key figure in the global underground electronic music scene. Born on June 4, 1975, in London, Edwards has been active since the early 1990s and is known for his deep, hypnotic approach to house and techno.

Matt Edwards began DJing in London in the early 1990s, quickly building a reputation for his refined musical taste and technical skills. He became a resident DJ at legendary venues such as Ministry of Sound, where he developed a deep understanding of club culture and dancefloor dynamics.

The Radio Slave project initially started in the early 2000s as a collaborative concept focused on underground bootleg remixes, reworking pop and electronic tracks into club-oriented versions. The project later evolved into Edwards’ primary artistic identity.

Radio Slave gained international recognition with releases that blend driving house grooves, deep techno textures, and emotional musical storytelling. His productions are often minimal yet powerful, designed for long, immersive club sets.

Notable tracks include “Bell Clap Dance,” “Grindhouse,” “No Sleep”, and a series of influential EPs that became staples in underground clubs worldwide. He has also delivered high-profile remixes for artists across the electronic spectrum.

In 2006, Matt Edwards co-founded the Rekids label in London. Rekids has since become one of the most respected independent electronic music labels, releasing music from artists such as Nina Kraviz, Mr. G, Spencer Parker, and many others. The label reflects Edwards’ commitment to artistic freedom and high-quality underground music.

Radio Slave is renowned for his long, narrative-driven DJ sets, often lasting several hours. He has performed at some of the world’s most prestigious clubs and festivals, including Berghain / Panorama Bar (Berlin), Fabric (London), Womb (Tokyo), and major international festivals.

For many years, Edwards was based in Berlin, further deepening his connection to the European techno and house scene.
